I am planning to go all the way to 44 minutes following the HRM protocol. I really enjoy sungazing a lot! I eat a raw foods diet and have been vegan for 3 years (except bee stuff). It is unfortunate we have so many cloudy days here...I should have been close to 40 minutes by now had I been able to do this daily! Oh well, I am doing what I can. Would like to see if there are any other sungazers here from my area?

On the way back to Albuquerque, when we were in the car, I ended up staring at the Sun in kind of a trance, straight on into it. It didnt look the same as it normally does because the rays were more obvious, and it seemed like the sun was a HOLE and stuff was falling out of it into me, sort of. It was pretty damn wierd because I kept feeling as if I was being fed or something, it just felt comforting, and I couldnt tear my eyes away. My roomates eventually noticed what i was doing, and they didnt let me do it anymore, everytime I tried, they grabbed me and made me stop. I tried to explain to them that I felt like I was being fed by the sun Akhnaton style, but they didnt know what I was talking about. I wasnt wearing sunglasses or anything, and when I looked away from the sun, I didnt have any sort of discolouration or red spot in my field of vision.

Does anyone here know WHAT THE HELL happened to me??

I havent tried staring at the sun since, but Im thinking that now that Ive looked up this sungazing and now that I see other people can do it, I might try to do it more...

But why the hell did I feel like I was getting fed???

None of my friends understand the experience, i think...but some of you might?

Shall we die consumed with selfishness
Or do we choose to die in peace

Does anyone have any experiences with sun gazing that they care to relate or any specific changes in perception or consciousness that has been experienced during the progression to 44 minutes?

I just met a someone here on Maui at the beach park last week who was telling me about sun gazing. He is up to 40 minutes and carries a little kitchen timer with him when he goes to the park for the sunset. He was enthusiastic about his progress, but I could not really tell what the benefits were for him.

This evening will be 80 seconds for me. I definitely feel more sensitive in terms absorbing light energy through the eyes, and generally more engergized in a nice way, not like from coffee or some other mild stimulant. I really think there is something to this practice, but not really sure what it is. I guess that simply not having to think about food would be the greatest benefit for me!

The last two summers, I have spent 1-2 weeks above the arctic circle in Sweden and Norway. It is an awesome place. Having spent a solid week and not seeing any darkness has conviced me of the power of the suns ability to provide the body with energy. You don't know if it's day or night and you feel energized almost all of the time. Even when you are trying to sleep with a pillow over your head, your body seems to know on a cellular level that it is still light outside. I highly recommend a trip to the land of midnight sun. To see the sun go around in the sky without going below the horizon is truly amazing! Of course stopping over in Amsterdam and hanging with some friends there while picking up some head candy for the TRIP would probably add to anyone's enjoyment of the Arctic Circle.

Anyone else heard about Solar Mythology, Astrotheology & how it directly relates to religions around the world today? Sun symbolism goes back as we have ever known right through to this present day. Yet, most folks aren't aware of what Solar symbolism is even though we are surrounded by it.

- Solar Mythology & Astrotheology -

"It is abundantly evident that mankind's predominant religious worship globally for many thousands of years has been Astronomical and Astrological, and that this Astrotheology has continued within the faiths popular today. These facts, however, have been hidden under a cloak of historicity, with the Astromythological players being presented as "real people".
One who understands the Solar Mythology or Astrotheology is one who knows the nature of "godhead" and the divine. Without this knowledge, humanity continues to wallow in erroneous concepts that blind it to its unity and allow for dangerous divisiveness."
Hira Ratan Manek was born on 12th of September 1937 in Bodhavad, India, was raised in Calicut, Kerala, India, where he had his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Kerala. After graduation, he joined the family shipping and spice trading business and continued working there until he retired in 1992.

After he retired, he began to research and study the ancient practice of sun gazing in which he had been interested in since his childhood. This method was an old but forgotten method, which had been practiced, in the ancient times in many different parts of the world. (see Sun Gazing - History)

After working on this method for 3 years, he was able to re-discover the secrets of sun gazing. During his study, he was mainly inspired from the teachings of Lord Mahavir of Jains, who was also practicing this method two thousand and six hundred years ago. Other inspirations for sungazing came from ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Native Americans.

Since June 18th, 1995, HRM has and continues to live only on sun energy and water. Occasionally, for hospitality and social purposes, he drinks tea, coffee and buttermilk. Until now, he had three strict fastings, during which he had just sun energy and only water and was under the control and observation of various science and medical teams.

The first of these fasting lasted for 211 days during 1995-96 in Calicut, India directed by Dr. C.K. Ramachandran, a medical expert on allopathy and ayurvedic medicine.

This was followed by a 411 day fast from 2000-2001 in Ahmedabad, India directed by an International team of 21 medical doctors and scientists led by Dr. Sudhir Shah (Dr. Shah's synopsis report) and Dr. K. K. Shah, the acting President of Indian Medical Association at that time. Dr. Maurie D. Pressman, MD also describes his experience with HRM in an article he wrote and later joined the team for the next observation on HRM.

I just came across the website mentioned below that describes the safe hours are 1/2 after sunrise and before sunset.....If someone who has researched more please let me know your thoughts. Any helpful information on getting started (ex...a certain month or day to start my continous sun gazing, sunset versus sunrise).

Hello friends and fellow lovers of the sun and all things. I've began a new ritual and am sharing it with everyone because it makes me feel so good and so connected that i would like every one to try it. Sun gazing. Simply staring at the sun withhin one hour after at sunrise or before sunset. There are precise diraections to do this safely and with maximim result. First feel grounded and relaxed and be standing somewhere directly on the earth, no pavement. Choose oneness and open your eyes toward the sun, keeping your whole face relaxed. start gazing for only ten seconds, then close eyes and thank the sun for its healing energy. Do this every day and every day increase the amount of time you stare at the sun by only 10 seconds, even if you feel you can go longer. This gradual increase in sun gazing allows your mental enegies to develop properly. There is plenty of scientific research on this process. www.solarhealing.com We are the one!

I went to look at the animated sun cam and sure enough, there it was! *So* cool!

The concept here is about dealing with your shadow, and the moon gazing can powerfully bring into your shadow, maybe the mythical werewolf was spawned from this understanding, and the general fear of the dark, fear of dealing with our dark side. Over doing the moon gazing can be a difficult place to recover from, who knows what your dark half might do.....
